Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris born October 20th 1964) is an American lawyer and politician who is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is the first female vice president and is the highest ranking female official in U.S history. As a member the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general for California in 2011-2017 and she was a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Following her first job as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was enlisted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she was elected San Francisco's district attorney. In 2010, she was appointed Attorney General of California and was re-elected in 2014. From 2017 until 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris beat Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election to become the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who advocated for health care and federal de-scheduling of cannabis. A pathway to citizenship for undocumented migrants. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She is most famous for her pointed questions of Trump administration officials in Senate hearings.
